Previous concerts have featured an impressive line-up of musicians, including Juan Martín, Carlos Bonell, Xuefei Yang, Martin Taylor and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, to name just a few. We’re delighted to be returning this autumn with two very special concerts.
First up, on 26 September, we welcome acclaimed acoustic guitarist and composer Will McNicol as part of his autumn tour. A former Guitarist Magazine UK Acoustic Guitarist of the Year, Will has performed extensively around the world and shared stages with artists including Antonio Forcione, Pierre Bensusan, Jon Gomm and Mumford & Sons. His intricate and expressive fingerstyle playing has earned international praise, with Guitar World describing him as “one of the best acoustic players on the planet right now”. His latest book, The Creative Fingerstyle Guitar Collection, celebrates his belief that expression and creativity are at the heart of music.
Then, on 21 November, we welcome internationally acclaimed duo Kristiina Watt and Ian Watt for Spain Old and New.
This fascinating programme takes audiences on a journey through Spain’s musical history, bringing together the rare sounds of the vihuela, a 15th-century plucked instrument, with classical Spanish guitar and contemporary works inspired by medieval music. The evening concludes with a beautiful performance of Seguidillas by Sor, Rodrigo and Marín, featuring Kristiina on vocals.
Both concerts offer a chance to enjoy exceptional musicianship in one of Wareham’s most atmospheric settings.
