🕵️♂️ Spying in Wartime Dorset
Auxilliary Units & Special Duties – Talk by Dr Will Ward
Winfrith History Group | 23 January
Discover a fascinating and little-known chapter of Second World War history when Winfrith History Group welcomes historian Dr Will Ward for an evening talk exploring the secret world of Auxiliary Units and special duties in wartime Dorset.
Often described as Britain’s hidden resistance, these covert units were trained to operate behind enemy lines in the event of invasion — and Dorset played a key role in their story. This talk sheds light on a remarkable period of local and national history that many people have never heard about.
The evening will take place at Winfrith Village Hall, where a warm welcome awaits. There will be a bar and refreshments available, along with a display of local historical photographs, offering a chance to explore Winfrith’s past and chat with members of the History Group.
Whether you’re a local history enthusiast or simply curious to learn more about the area’s wartime past, this promises to be a fascinating and friendly evening.
