Poole Quay, Old Town and Town Centre
Poole’s biggest celebration of seafood, live music and community spirit returns this September as Seafood & Sounds Festival 2026 takes over the town for a vibrant weekend of entertainment, delicious food and family-friendly fun.
Spanning Poole Quay, the historic Old Town and surrounding areas, the festival transforms the town into a lively showcase of local culture, creativity and coastal heritage, with something to enjoy around every corner.
Opening Parade
The festivities begin at 11am on Saturday with a colourful Opening Parade. Starting at Slug & Lettuce, the procession will make its way through the Old Town before arriving on the Quay, providing a lively and energetic start to the weekend celebrations.
Explore the Artisan Market
A carefully curated artisan market will be spread throughout the town, encouraging visitors to discover Poole’s hidden corners and independent businesses. Stalls will be located across a variety of locations including:
- Sarum Street
- Paradise Street
- Fortuna Boat
- The Quay Pub
- Nusara Courtyard
- St James’ Church
- Old Orchard
- Falkland Square
And many more throughout the festival area.
Live Music Across the Town
Music is at the heart of Seafood & Sounds, with nine live performance areas creating a vibrant soundtrack throughout the weekend.
Performances will take place at venues including:
- Fish Shambles
- Poole Arms
- Sea Music Sculpture
- St James’ Church
Along with several other locations across the town centre and waterfront.
Seafood, Street Food and Cooking Demonstrations
Food lovers can enjoy a packed culinary programme celebrating the very best local seafood.
Highlights include:
- Live seafood cooking demonstrations inside the Dolphin Centre
- Expert chefs sharing tips, techniques and inspiration
- Waterside fish stalls along Poole Quay
- Freshly prepared seafood dishes
- Traditional paella and coastal street food
It’s the perfect opportunity to sample the flavours of Dorset’s coastline.
Family Fun and Free Activities
Seafood & Sounds offers plenty of entertainment for younger visitors and families, including:
- Free children’s activities across the festival site
- Interactive entertainment at the Quay, Old Town, White Pepper area, Hotel du Vin and St James’ Church
- The popular Free Oyster Trail, guiding families on a fun adventure through the Old Town
- Circus skills workshops in Falkland Square
Try Music with The Absolute Music Trust
A special festival highlight takes place on Sunday 13 September, when The Absolute Music Trust hosts free, hands-on music workshops at St James’ Church.
Open to all ages and abilities, these welcoming sessions give visitors the chance to try a range of musical instruments with guidance from experienced musicians.
