Discover Dorset’s beautiful churches, explore the county at your own pace and help preserve some of its most treasured historic buildings at Ride + Stride 2026, organised by the Dorset Historic Churches Trust.
Whether you’re a keen walker, cyclist, runner, history enthusiast or simply looking for a different way to explore Dorset, Ride + Stride is a fantastic day out for all ages.
Explore Dorset your way
Choose your own route and visit as many participating churches as you like. You can:

- 🚴 Cycle
- 🏃 Run
- 🚗 Drive
- 🚌 Travel by bus
There’s no set route and no need to race — you decide where you go, how far you travel and how you spend your day.
Many churches across Dorset will be opening their doors on Saturday 12th September, giving participants the opportunity to discover beautiful buildings, fascinating histories and hidden gems that you may otherwise pass by. Some churches will also be serving refreshments along the way.
Raise money for Dorset’s historic churches
Ride + Stride is a major annual fundraiser for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust, which supports the preservation, repair and conservation of more than 400 churches and chapels across Dorset.
And there’s an added incentive to get involved: 50% of the sponsorship you raise can be returned directly to your chosen church, helping support its own work and future.
So gather your sponsors, choose your route and get ready to discover Dorset from a whole new perspective.
